A report published by the ADHD Taskforce on 20 June has stated that wait times for assessments for ADHD and therefore ADHD diagnosis are unacceptably long, and that there must be more support for those who are waiting.
It goes onto say that support should begin early, in preschool or school and, critically, not require clinician provided diagnosis.
Furthermore, it finds that ADHD can have a huge impact on people’s lives and that work, education and relationships can all suffer due to ADHD traits and lack of support.
It also finds that ADHD is not solely a health issue and that collaboration across different services, including in community settings, is needed.
Healthwatch Camden welcome these long overdue findings to help support both children and adults with ADHD in Camden.
