The NHS in North Central London is consulting on proposals to make changes to maternity and neonatal care and to children’s surgical services

The proposals for change have been developed by the North Central London Start Well programme which is working to review and improve maternity, neonatal, children and young people’s services. A key aim of the programme is to help address the health inequalities we see between the communities in our area. Our proposals have been developed by doctors, midwives, nurses, and other health professionals, working together with families with lived experience of maternity, neonatal, and children’s emergency and planned surgical services. We have also worked with our colleagues in neighbouring integrated care boards.

We want to know what you think about our proposals for maternity, neonatal, and children’s surgical services before we decide whether and how to take them forward. This includes whether you agree that we need to make changes, to what extent you agree or disagree with our proposals, how we could address any disadvantages in our proposals, and any alternative options you think we should consider.

No decisions on changes to services have yet been made and we are consulting on our proposals with an open mind. We are particularly keen to hear from people who use maternity, neonatal, and children’s surgical services about what the impact may be on them and if there is anything else we need to consider before we make a decision.

The proposals for maternity and neonatal care, the birth suites at Edgware Birth Centre, and children’s surgery are independent of each other. You can choose to give your views on all areas or on just one area.
