Integrated Care System Established in North Central London

Today, Friday 1 July, the North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS) and the North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB) form on a statutory footing, following the passing of the Health and Care Act (2022).

This date is an important milestone in our journey of great partnership working in North Central London. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic we learnt a lot about how the health and care system can work together to support and care for our local communities, but also that we must do more together to tackle significant inequalities across our boroughs.

The North Central London Integrated Care System spans Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington, and includes 12 hospital trusts, our five local authorities, our general practices, the NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board, working in partnership with the local voluntary and community sector.

By working as one health and care system for North Central London they can make more progress, faster, in improving the health of our local population and tackling the inequalities people face in terms of their health outcomes and experience of services.

The ICS will learn from each other in terms of delivering the care and support residents want and need, and increase their collective focus on the things we know impact health and wellbeing – such as housing, fulfilling work, community connection, transport and our surroundings.

“I look forward to leading the North Central London Integrated Care Board, and working in close partnership with our five Councils, NHS colleagues, the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, and local communities to achieve our shared ambitions to improve the health and wellbeing. Listening to and involving residents, patients and our workforce will be essential in achieving our ambitions and tackling the inequalities we know still exist across our boroughs.”

Frances O’Callaghan, Chief Executive Officer, North Central London Integrated Care Board
