Free prescriptions for care experienced young people in north central London

Care experienced young people in north central London, who currently pay for their prescriptions, can now apply for a Prescription Prepayment Certificate so they don’t have to pay for prescribed medication.

Those eligible must be:
• Aged 18 to 24, up to their 25th birthday
• Registered with a GP
• A care experienced young person (care leaver) from a Local Authority in North Central London (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington)
• Not already eligible for free prescriptions through national exemptions, for example, those with long term health conditions

To apply for the Prescription Prepayment Certificate, care experienced young people need to contact their Personal Advisor at their local authority’s leaving care service who will help them fill in a form and apply on their behalf for the certificate.

Where a care experienced young person is already eligible for free prescriptions through existing national exemptions, they will be supported to access that entitlement.
