In a nationwide drive to help more people to get dentist appointments, dental practices will benefit from extra cash for taking on new NHS patients.

NHS practices that participate in the programme will be paid from £15 to £50 for each new patient, depending on how much treatment is required. This will apply for any patient who has not seen an NHS dentist over the past two years.

‘This could really help local people who have struggled to get a dentist appointment or registration in as long as two or more years. It could mean that children get their first ever check-up, while adults get much needed treatment for long standing problems’ said Stephen Heard, the Director of Healthwatch Camden.
