ban on junk food advertising under way

The Department of Health and Social Care recently confirmed that a ban on junk food advertising before 9pm will begin in October 2025.

Online junk food adverts targeted at children will also be banned.

A government evaluation estimates that a whopping 7.2 billion calories per year will be removed from children’s diets as a result of the measures! Preventing an estimated 20,000 cases of childhood obesity. Confirmation of the plans comes at the same time as government figures reveal that almost one in ten reception aged children are living with obesity.
