Vacination Information

Flu vaccine

The flu vaccine is given free on the NHS to people who:

  • are 50 and over (including those who’ll be 50 by 31 March 2023)
  • have certain health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • are in long-stay residential care
  • receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick
  • live with someone who is more likely to get infections (such as someone who has HIV, has had a transplant or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis)
  • frontline health or social care workers.

The nasal spray flu vaccine is free on the NHS for:

  • children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2022 – born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2020
  • all primary school children (reception to year 6)
  • secondary school-aged children focusing on years 7,8 and 9. Any remaining vaccine will be offered to children in years 10 and 11
  • children aged 2 to 17 years with long-term health conditions.

Covid vaccine

The groups to be offered a COVID-19 vaccine in autumn/winter 2024/25 are:

  • residents in a care home for older adults
  • all adults aged 65 years and over
  • persons aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group, as defined in tables 3 and 4 of the COVID-19 chapter of the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Green Book on immunisation against infectious disease

Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine

The MMR provides long-term protection against measles, mumps, and rubella.
The MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps and rubella (German measles). Two doses of the MMR vaccine provide the best protection.

The first dose of the MMR vaccine is given at 1 year old. The second dose is given at 3 years and 4 months.
