The Last Phase of Life (LPoL) was a collaborative piece of work we did working across the five boroughs in North London (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington). The work is part of the North London Partners Sustainability and Transformation Plan.
A deep-seated unwillingness to talk about death generally has meant that finding out the needs and wishes of dying people and their carers’ and then to translate these needs into practice, is not easy.

Healthwatch Camden recently moved to new offices at the Greenwood Centre , an ambitious mixed-use building in the centre of the borough.
Read MoreEvery voice counts when it comes to the provision of our health and social care services. To this end we’ve recruited a team of volunteers from UCL to help us get local people’s views at events and on projects over the coming months.
This month we started inductions with the volunteers. They’ve chosen which projects they’re working on which include the referrals project, Food Poverty and many more.
By volunteering with us you can give something back to the community and develop new skills. We recruit volunteers on a project-by-project basis.

Plus, after weeks of free flowing traffic, they notice that the lovely Hampstead roads are once again brought to a standstill many times a day.
These realisations moved a group of local parents to action, and NW3 Green School Runs was born.

The discussion was prompted by a new Healthwatch Camden report which explores the role played by poor or insecure housing on the health of local residents. Five themes emerged from interviews with residents:
One – housing issues in Camden are contributing to high levels of stress and anxiety which are detrimental to mental health.
