Robert Sumerling, a member of our board recently went on a PLACE visit at the Royal Free hospital. He visited the Radiotherapy Clinic, Postnatal ward and Men’s renal ward where they looked at cleanliness and condition.
Our volunteers go to PLACE visits at local hospitals every year to provide the patient perspective on whether the healthcare environment provides privacy and dignity. Staff at the hospitals are positive and welcoming.
Roberts first joined Healthwatch Camden as a volunteer because as a long term Camden resident he wanted to use his varied experiences of working in health care to support local people who depend on the NHS.
Healthwatch Camden wants to reduce inequalities in health and social care services. We want equal access to treatment and outcomes for everyone in our local community.
We’re all about building relationships with communities, voluntary organisations and service providers so that we can highlight what they are doing well and work together towards improvements based on the views of service users.
