Accessibility and Camden’s community centres – An update

Over the past few months our volunteers have visited all the major community centres in Camden to test how accessible they are for disabled people. They used their own lived experiences and a set of questions developed as a group to look at a wide range of disability issues.

We mentioned in our previous newsletter that we’re working on this with project with Camden Disability Action.

Disabled people told us that they find it difficult to access local community services for a number of reasons including inadequate wheelchair provision and lack of BSL interpreters. Part of Healthwatch Camden’s role is to make sure that we all get the best out of local health and social care services.

We’ll be reporting back to the community centres in the next few days and the final reports will be available in the New Year.
