Access to GP services for local people with different forms of Sensory Impairment

Local people told us that it can be difficult communicating with GP practices if you are either visually impaired, d/Deaf or hard of hearing or have learning disabilities.

So we’re conducting a series of focus group discussions and interviews to find out more about the experiences of these groups of services users. Also to learn what improvements can be made to ensure they can access the services to which they are entitled.

We’re producing a report

We will analyse all the findings to produce a report and recommendations later in the spring.

We’ve already held our first focus group in British Sign Language and STTR with d/Deaf people. Now we’re organising further discussions with local people who are hard of hearing and with groups who have learning disabilities. We also plan to work with people with visual impairment.
