Community Engagement – Volunteer’s Fair

Volunteers are our lifeblood. They help us to find out what local people think and want in terms of health and social care in Camden.

So in mid-January we attended the Volunteer’s Fair at the Arlington Centre, to see if we could entice more local people to volunteer for us. A volunteer’s Fair is a community hub where organisations can engage with local people interested in volunteering.

We set up a stall to give local people a chance to find out more about what we do and how they can support us. Lots of health organisations also had stalls and we used this as a chance to network with them.

In terms of volunteering we offer opportunities for those in or out of work who want to develop their skills and have an interest in health and social care.

Here’s an idea of what you can do with us:

Ambassadors – These volunteers talk to residents, patients and service users on how Healthwatch Camden can help them get the best out of health and social care services in Camden. They tell people about us, listen to comments and feed them back to us. Usually to the policy and insight Manager, who’ll then see if there is anything we can act on.

Administration / Event Management – Volunteers help run our busy office and also facilitate at events. Like the Volunteer’s Fair!

Young People – Opportunities include, shadowing for a day at the Healthwatch Camden offices. Being a Young Ambassador speaking up for youth, helping out at events, and being a Young Champion, an inspiration for other young people in the borough.

Next time you see our stall in your area, why not say hello! If you’re interested in volunteering email
