A taste of our Community Engagement work

Healthwatch Camden wants to make sure that planning of our health and social care services includes people from all communities and ages.

To this end, Shelly Khan, our Community Engagement Manager is on the steering group of the Social Participation Pilot which works on BME mental health around the challenges and opportunities for BME mental health engagement and behaviour change.

The Social Participation Pilot is working on three key areas:

○      Black men – Barber Footy Competition – promoting healthy minds and tackling stigma.

○      Bangladeshi women – Film, tour, GPs, Mindfulness CD partnership raising awareness of mental health, promoting better health and reducing stigma.

 ○     Irish women – Cailini Secret book, online campaign to anonymously contribute a secret to a group art project. Cailíní Secret was thought up and created by Irish women for Irish women part of promoting better mental health.

Our aim is to work in partnership with other organisations in reducing health inequalities in Camden.

A report will be available at the end of the project.
